While late manga creator Akira Toriyama is best-known for Dragon Ball, the famed illustrator also produced several other terrific series throughout his lifetime. One of them, Sand Land, was recently adapted into a video game, and in case you've been waiting for it to go on special, your patience has paid off. As the pink-skinned demon prince, Beelzebub, players have to navigate through a desert world where water is in short supply and the realms of magic and sci-fi have become intertwined. While combat can become monotonous and vehicle customization could be better, Sand Land still captures the charm of the original manga with its fascinating cast well-layered storytelling. "Sand Land is bittersweet in many ways, but it's a testament to Toriyama's talents as both an artist and storyteller that, despite its numerous flaws, it's still worth playing," Richard Wakeling wrote in GameSpot's Sand Land review.
